Bali eSIM plans and prices: October 17, 2026
These are published USD prices for two different Indonesia travel-data approaches. The Nomad Indonesia catalog names Telkomsel and supports hotspot. The Holafly Bali page names XL/Telkomsel, says its plan also covers the rest of Indonesia, and limits shared data to 1 GB per day. Network names are supplier statements, not our coverage measurements.
| Published offer | Data and validity | Catalog price | Purchase check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nomad Indonesia | 5 GB total · 30 days | US$12 | Fixed allowance; include hotspot usage in the budget. |
| Nomad Indonesia | 10 GB total · 30 days | US$19 | Check the installation email for the exact activation path. |
| Holafly Bali | Unlimited on-phone data · 7 days | US$27.50 | Hotspot: 1 GB/day. Fair-use speed management may apply. |
| Holafly Bali | Unlimited on-phone data · 15 days | US$51.50 | The same sharing limit matters if a laptop is essential. |
Holafly's fair-use terms permit local-network restrictions for excessive use; the inspected source did not give a numeric Bali on-phone high-speed threshold. Its hotspot allowance is a separate limit. We did not compare checkout taxes, stock, account offers or coupon eligibility.
The Airalo Indonesia catalog is another option, but its readable pages showed different local currencies and its USD selector did not work in our check. We therefore omit an Airalo price rather than convert or import one from a travel blog. Its validity guidance says the exact package may start on installation or supported-network connection; check that package's policy.
A seven-day budget with the arithmetic visible
Start with your own allowance assumption, not an unsupported claim about how much every traveler uses. Suppose you choose a planning budget of 0.8 GB per day for seven days. That is 0.8 × 7 = 5.6 GB. Add a 25% reserve: 5.6 × 0.25 = 1.4 GB, giving 7 GB total. This is an illustrative budget, not measured app usage. Replace the inputs if you plan to stream, upload video, work online or share with another device.
Under that assumption the listed 5 GB offer is too small; the 10 GB offer leaves 3 GB beyond the illustrative total. A longer validity window does not add data, and unused days do not make a small allowance sufficient. Conversely, paying for more data does not solve a plan that expires before your last transfer. Check both dimensions before comparing the price.
For seven actual travel days, the quoted US$19 fixed plan costs 19 ÷ 7 = US$2.71 per trip day, rounded. The quoted US$27.50 seven-day option costs 27.50 ÷ 7 = US$3.93 per trip day. This is a trip-cost calculation, not a price-per-GB comparison between fixed and unlimited data. If your laptop needs more than the stated daily sharing allowance, the second option does not meet that task merely because its on-phone data is unlimited.
Use price only after a candidate clears your data, duration and sharing needs. Save a small amount of data for the final airport journey rather than planning to finish the allowance the night before departure. If the inputs remain uncertain, write down the uncertainty and choose a usable top-up or backup path before committing.
Telkomsel service, tourist pickup and a roaming eSIM are different routes
Telkomsel's published Tourist Prepaid Card FAQ states Rp150,000 for 25 GB and 25 minutes; its Indonesian answer specifies local calls. The eligibility FAQ asks international tourists to validate passport and IMEI. The purchase route is preorder then collect after arrival, or selected GraPARI outlets. That is not proof of an immediately emailed tourist eSIM; current stock, expiry and ordinary SMS entitlement were not established in the accessible FAQs.
The general Telkomsel eSIM page separately refers to KITAS validation for foreign customers registering a new number. Do not combine that route with the tourist-card passport wording to invent a single checkout process. Likewise a travel eSIM using Telkomsel's network is not automatically a local Telkomsel subscription with a +62 number. Ask about the exact visitor product and required documents before buying for native calls or texts.
Keep a purchase record that survives the flight
Put four answers in one offline note: the exact product and payment currency; the allowance and usable days; the event that starts those days; and the arrival task you need to complete. Keep the confirmation and support route with that note. Do not rely on a browser tab that might disappear when you have no internet. A screenshot of a provider's general homepage is less useful than the actual plan, its instructions and the date you checked them.
Turn unknowns into specific support questions. “Does this plan work in Bali?” is less useful than “Does this exact package cover my dates and allow the amount I need to share?” If a local number matters, ask separately about ordinary incoming SMS and the app you intend to use. Keep the answer tied to the product rather than borrowing a promise from a different package sold by the same company.
For a multi-island Indonesia trip, save your first accommodation and transfer details offline, and identify a place where you can ask for help if mobile data does not start. A signal icon alone is not your acceptance test. Decide what you will do if the map works but the taxi account does not, or if the phone connects but the laptop allowance is exhausted. These are contingency decisions you can make before travel; they do not require pretending that any provider is guaranteed everywhere.
Follow the exact activation policy
Nomad's Indonesia page describes advance installation, destination-network activation and a 60-day purchase-to-activation window, after which the page says an unstarted plan automatically activates and its validity countdown begins. It also warns that some eSIMs need manual activation; the installation email controls that step. Holafly's setup guidance distinguishes installation from connection to a destination network with roaming enabled, and says the days continue once started. Do not turn either description into one universal rule for every seller. Our installation guide covers the general phone steps.
Refunds also depend on the reason and the product's state. Holafly's refund policy attaches conditions to change-of-plans, device and connection claims; its advertised request window is not an unconditional refund promise. Save the current terms before installation.
Bali eSIM questions and answers
A Bali Travel Forum visitor on July 12, 2026 asked about buying an airport SIM with 60 days and 30 GB. That is a real duration-and-data question, not a test or an eSIM-specific report. The answer below addresses the buying checks. The Grab question is our editorial FAQ, supported by Grab's Indonesia login help; it is not attributed to that forum visitor.
What is the best eSIM for Bali?
Choose by trip length, expected data and hotspot needs. In the October 17, 2026 public USD catalogs, Nomad Indonesia listed 10 GB for 30 days at $19; Holafly Bali listed seven days of unlimited on-phone data at $27.50 with 1 GB of hotspot sharing per day. These are different products, not a tested winner or verified checkout total.
Is a data-only Bali eSIM enough for Grab, and how do I receive its login code?
It can provide the app's internet connection, but successful login is a separate check. Grab's Indonesia login help describes SMS codes for a listed set of phone-number countries and WhatsApp for others, with SMS backup if WhatsApp is not installed. Confirm the channel for your actual registered number before travel. A data-only product does not by itself give that number ordinary SMS service; Holafly explicitly excludes a temporary local number. We did not test a Grab login or booking.
What should I check for a 60-day Bali stay needing 30 GB?
Check both the full usable period and total data. A 30-day package does not become a 60-day package because data is left over. Confirm whether a later package or top-up extends validity, requires another profile, and starts when you need it. No 60-day, 30-GB offer or airport stock was verified here.
Can I share my Bali eSIM with a laptop?
Nomad's Indonesia page says hotspot is supported. Holafly Bali specifies 1 GB of sharing per day; its unlimited on-phone data is not unlimited laptop data. Check your exact plan and device, and include shared usage in your allowance.
Can I install my eSIM before flying to Bali?
Follow the exact plan instructions. Nomad describes advance installation and destination-network activation, but warns that some plans need manual activation and states a 60-day purchase-to-activation window. Holafly distinguishes installation from activation on a supported destination network with roaming enabled. Save the relevant instructions before departure.
Does a Telkomsel-network eSIM include a local Indonesian phone number?
Do not infer a local number or SMS entitlement from the network name. Nomad's checked Indonesia catalog names Telkomsel, but the inspected cards did not establish a local number or ordinary SMS. Telkomsel's Tourist Prepaid Card pickup FAQs and its general new-number eSIM eligibility route are separate products; verify the exact visitor purchase path before paying.
Sources and evidence limits
Official product and process pages linked above were checked October 17, 2026. Grab's signup article and login help differ in code detail; confirm the channel shown for your own account rather than relying on a fixed digit count. We did not create an account, book a ride, buy a plan, measure speed or test coverage. Provider descriptions are their claims. The worked budget, purchase record and arrival checks are original editorial tools. Public prices can change; verify the exact product and total before paying.
This is one Indonesia buying guide including Bali. A Bali location label does not establish coverage for a foreign stopover or every remote island. For the phone itself, use our compatibility checks; for usage planning, use the data calculator.
